This week, Jason Weller, President of Truterra, LLC, testified before the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee on the topic of diversifying on-farm income and opportunities to strengthen rural America. The invitation for Truterra, LLC to testify is a testament to the influence of Land O’Lakes, Inc. and to the leadership of our farmer and ag retail owners.
In his remarks, Jason shared the perspective of not only Truterra and Land O’Lakes, but also of the network of thousands of farmer and ag retail owners across the country. He shared the importance of rural vitality and that the key is the ability to tap into technology and innovation.
"When we invest in rural America, all Americans benefit,” Weller said. “These rural communities are key to our food security – the communities where our members work and where they call home. Farmers are the backbone of rural communities and when they aren’t profitable, the communities ultimately struggle to invest in other vital services such as education, health care or their local economy.”
Weller shared three examples of how Land O’Lakes has invested to support the vitality of rural America including the launch of Truterra’s TruCarbon™ program, the CalBio Collaboration and through efforts to advocate for, and bring access to, broadband through the American Connection Project.
